Unicorn Models Resin + Plaster + Plastic round up
1/35th scales available now – Pt 1.
Erwin from www.unicornmodels.be has furnished us with some great diorama details (which I intend to use for the most part on one Diorama) from his expansive and eclectic range of accessories. These span from scenery to containers and pets, lights to food to weapons, some of which I will go through here with links to each item. I will also give you a photo of each of the items here that I have taken pictures of – raw without any clean up so you can see what you actually get. I have done something unusual ad left the prices on here - as they are so cheap this MUST be taken into the equasion!!

Garden Wall - 10.00EUR

Garden wall, can also be used as a wall for convent, railway station, ... Both sides are cast in ceramic plaster, highly detailed. Front and rear can be displayed. Kit comes unpainted. Dimensions : aprox. 185 x 55 mm.
This wall section come quite sturdy – nearly a centimetre and a half thick – so the scale thickness is there – it's made of plaster so the roughness of the bricks is there and it will look quite convincing with a paint and a light wash. It looks like a wall of a church or railway or a warehouse yard.

Three different French concrete road signs.
These come in three different shapes most common in the period and still now in France. Unicorn has some separate road signs to match these if "you don’t have time" (or the skill) to do your own signs, most convincing and made from dark resin. Only a little clean up is needed for each one, so I like them very much.

Cargo for Tamiya's Renault Chenillette, filled with German "goodies".
Also suitable for other cargo's like Opel Blitz. I do think that these could go into any vehicle that has a cargo bay the same shape or size. Road wheels for tanks, helmets and a oil drum can be seen, all cast in Resin , details are good with this, and it would look great with some paint.
Cytius Tree 4.00EUR
Two Cytius (broom) trees, aprox. 110 mm high. Very realistic Two trees, great to go along the road side or in the countryside of your diorama. These look very nice and have fine enough detail to carry off a flowering plant – which are pretty rare in most military dioramas!
Wooden Barrel 35 mm 2.50EUR

Wooden barrel 35 mm high, cast in resin – these wooden barrels – if I were to pick – are the best of the bunch we have gotten – and it's all good – so that’s saying something! The subtlety of the casting is just superb, - don t undercoat this, just paint it ! you can really see the wood grain in the barrel – well you THINK you can – and that’s what it's all about really!

Kitchen cabinet 7 cm high is a very finely moulded cabinet with the smallest of attached handles. Commendation for such fine work must be granted - as you can really pick it ip with just the slightest of paint.Really nice work. I must apologize i dropped mine and took a nick out of the top shelf - it was fine before that!

Fountain, aprox 40 mm high, goes very well together with well 72.769. This fountain has a few "bubbles" on it – I thought it was a fault with the resin but realized it’s the water that would be coming over the fountain – silly me! Nice for a village square – you can get a fountain base to go with it.

Lamppost, street lantern, 40 mm high, working, prewired, light bulb 6volt included. How – for 1.50 Euros can you make this ? it must be subsidised by the electrical companies ?!! This can be used working or not, as the bulb looks realistic, kudos for such fine work – I would love to do a night diorama with these in a row down a street – you could definitely afford to at a price like this !

Toilet, seat, water closet, toilet paper. Moulded in three pieces this is a wall based toilet – thankfully not moulded all in one piece but like an older style toilet. Just like what you would expect of a ww2 era W.C. The tiny paper roll is a nice touch!
4 German Flour Bags 5.00EUR

4 German flour bags, complete with decals for front (swastika + eagle) and back (letters + year 1942 and/or 1944), see picture of actual bag for reference. You just need to paint the 2 blue lines. Comes unpainted. These bags are much more realistic than using putty or some plaster, they have realistic crease lines at the top and the bottom where the bag would sag due to gravity. I don’t think I am good enough to paint a straight blue line on them but a fine mask should do it to get the fine line.
German Oil Barrel - Used 1.50EUR

German oil barrel used – this looked a bit different when I got it out of the packet – compared to the other ones I thought it had a "dint" in it – Well it DOES – I clocked that it’s a used barrel without prompting, this I suppose goes to show how realistic it is! Very nice with the right shading to make it's wear and tear show it’s a great addition. Thanks for something that's not in pristine condition (like a lot of companies do) The used barrel is on the right of the picture - next to some of thier other full barrels from the luftwaffe and Wermacht.
Cargo Willys Trailer 3.00EUR

Cargo Willys trailer, also suitable for Bantam trailers. Can also be used to fill cargo on GMCs, Dodge, DUKW, ... The trailer is not included. With a tarp covering a Bazooka and other various G.I. equipment, it’s a very neat little addition to your trailer. Ammo crates and a oil can are included.
So what do we think?
A great set of diorama accessories – What I have tried to show you is the depth and scope of Unicorn's releases – look for a part two to this review in the next few days.
