I've got the Trumpeter MiG-21MF in my stash, so I certainly know where Aires are coming from with their release of these intake replacement. Aires have got a good eye for the shortcomings of many kit releases, so we can usually be assured that we will eventually see a resin replacement part from them. The other set within this review is for the 1:72 Seahawk from Hobby Boss. Let's take a look at the inventory, and then each set in turn.

QB 32 123, MiG-21MF Fishbed J Air Scoops
Packaged into the familiar orange and white Quickboost wallet, this set comprises a single casting block of light grey resin, containing the numerous air intakes that festoon the outside of the MiG-21MF type. There are a total of 6 air scoops on this set, connected to a thin web of resin on a vertical post. Two protective walls shield the parts from damage whilst in the packaging.
The scoops are correctly profiled in both side and top elevation, with thin intake walls and a deep intake area which is far superior to the kit parts. This is an excellent upgrade for what is otherwise a superb kit from Trumpeter. Casting is first rate with no flash or flaw.
QB 72 366, Seahawk Exhaust Nozzles
This simple set, again presented in the standard Quickboost wallet, comes on a single light grey resin casting block. Simply, these are direct replacements for the large and very obvious jet nozzles for the beautiful Hawker Seahawk. These nozzle parts are virtually hollow all the way through, and connected to the casting block by a thin resin rib which you'll need to take care in removing.
Casting is excellent, with no flaw or flash, and these are direct kit part replacements.
So what do we think?
Two more excellent and economically priced sets from the home of excellent resin detail parts. Thee is no reason not to invest in these upgrades for your model.
