For those of us waiting for this kit to be released, the wait has seemed ages, but Zoukei-mura have indeed delivered, and on time too. As I write this, I am actually sat in my hotel room in Kyoto, having been presented this kit only yesterday, by Zoukei-mura’s ‘Commander-in-Chief, Hideyuki Shigeta. Before I travelled to the Volks HQ, Mr Shigeta teased me with a view at a carton full of Ta 152 kits in the back of his car. As I was one of those waiting to see this kit, that was a veritable modellers dream!

 

このキットの発売を待ちこがれていた私達には、待ち時間がもう何年分にも 感じられる位だった訳ですが、予定通りに造形村から、いよいよリリースです。これを書いている今、実は、私は京都のホテルにいて、造形村の重田英行”総司令官”殿から、つい昨日、このキットを頂いたばかりです。ボークス本社に向かう前、車の後席に積まれた箱一杯のTa152キットを見ながら、重田社長にからかわれてしまいましたよ。私だって、正真正銘、モデラーの夢でもあるこのキットを見たくて見たくて待ち続けてた1人なんですから！

 

Now, for those who have seen the Shinden, this kit is boxed in the same sized package, with an artwork which is pretty darn impressive. Painted by Japanese modeller, Mr Y Kawano, the art depicts two Ta 152H-1’s about to make a turn into a stream of passing B-17 Flying Fortresses. Superb original artwork which sets the inspiration to want to build the model. Let’s take a look inside that the box, and see what we are given.


震電を見た事があればお分かりかと思いますが、Ta152も同じサイズのパッケージで、アートワークもびっくりするほど印象的です。日本のモデラーであるカワノ氏によって描かれたその絵は、二機のTa152H-1が、空飛ぶ要塞、B-17の 一群をかわして、まさにターンしようとしています。極めてオリジナリティあふれるこのアートワークは、このモデルをやりたいというインスピレーションを掻き立ててくれます。
では、箱の中のを覗いて、私達が何を手に入れるか見ていきましょう。

This model is presented over a total of eight sprues, all individually bagged to prevent any scuffing and damage of the finer, more fragile parts. Like the Shinden, this model is moulded in three colours, which are black, silver and grey. Of course, that’s not taking into account the clear sprue carrying the respective parts. A proper breakdown of this shows we have 2 silver sprues which, as a whole, contain the internal structures such as cockpit, main wing frame, engine with radiator cooler, plus parts for the undercarriage and internal vertical tail structures.


全部で8個のランナーで構成されていて、繊細で壊れやすいパーツが傷ついたり、破損したりするのを防ぐため、個別の袋に入っています。震電同様にこのキットも三色、黒と銀と灰色で成型されています。これとは別に、勿論、クリアのランナーもあります。
個別に詳細を書きますと、大まかに、コックピットや主翼フレーム、冷却機とエンジンなどの内部構造と、加えてアンダーキャリッジと尾翼内部構造が含まれる銀色のランナーが2個あります。

The single black sprue holds that amazing and symbolic paddle-bladed propeller, fuel tanks, engine bearers, associated engine parts, plus the wheels and MG’s. All remaining grey sprues contain the fabric of the aircraft, broken down into such a number of parts that you know the kit designers have taken into account that you may want to go even further with your model, and remove your own areas, not already given as individual panels, to show off further the interior detail you can see on those sprues. The transparent sprue, apart from containing both the forward and rear canopy parts, include the instrument panel as a single piece, and also the wing tip lighting.


黒のランナーは１つで、すばらしく、且つ、象徴的なパドル型ブレードのプロペラ、燃料タンク、エンジンの支え、エンジン関連パーツ、車輪、MGなどになっています。
残りは灰色のランナーで、機体の基礎構造です、例えば、パネルを外して内部のディテールを見せたりと、貴方がもっと違う事をしたいと思う事も開発者たちは考慮して、沢山のパーツ構成になっています。透明のランナーは前後のキャノピー、一まとめになった計器パネル、翼端のライトなどになっています。

This kit has a lot to live up to, but does it? I think the answer to this is a resounding ‘yes’. The use of different colours of plastic is still quite novel, but can help with regard to locating where the required part is, if you are simply too idle to consult the manuals part layout diagrams. As with the Shinden, the silver plastic does tend to distract from the detail of the parts contained within. I noticed that so much extra detail ‘popped out’ from the plastic when a coat of primer was applied. I tend to look upon the different colour plastics having a beneficial factor instead of simply being novelty. The overall quality of moulding is well above average, and on par with the more ‘established’ manufacturers which charge a premium, but without the level of detail we are about to examine.

このキットは物凄い期待を背負っている、が、それにかなう出来栄えなのか？
その答えは、”yes“という声が鳴り響いてくる様に思います。異なる色のプラスチックを使用するのは未だにとても奇抜ですが、もし、貴方がいちいち組立説明書のパーツ配置図を見るのが面倒なら、必要なパーツが何処にあるか見つける点で大いに役立ちます。震電で、銀色のプラスチックはパーツのディテールが見づらくなりがちでプライマーを吹いた所、更に大量のディテールが出現したのに気付きました。異なる色のプラスチックを使用するのは、単に奇抜なだけでなく、有用な点もありますね。
造形のクオリティは、長年やっているメーカーの割高な癖に、これから見て行くこのキットのディテールのレベルに達してはいない様な物の平均の遥か上です。

 

 

So what does this kit offer in terms of detail? Well, if we ignore the fact that within a short space of time, there will be numerous ‘Detail Up’ sets included, then you can make more than  a reasonable effort in creating an amazing looking Ta 152. How do I know this? Well, I have sat in the Volks HQ and studied the various forms of both test shot and finished shot, and colluded with the designers, and several finished models of this kit, without any of the aforementioned detail sets.

 

では、このキットで提供される「ディテール」とは何か？そうですね、近日発売される様々なディテールアップセットはひとまず無視するとしても、ちょっとした工夫で素晴らしい出来栄えのTa152が創造できてしまう程なんです。なぜ、そんな事が分るかって？ボークスの本部で様々な形態のテストショット、商品版、幾つかの完成品、どれも前述のディテールアップセットなしのものをデザイナーさんと一緒に研究させて貰ったんですよ。

 

 

Please don’t convince yourself that this approach to releasing detail sets is one of corporate greed. The designers of this kit, and indeed the Shinden and successive kits have done this for a reason. They wish the modeller to be able to create a first class model from the box, with no need for any extras. The desire is to keep the base kit to being made from the same medium, plastic. You will need no advanced skills, or need to purchase items to make the model look simply amazing. This will appeal to those why shy away from aftermarket accessories. For those who do wish to explore that avenue, and save their Ta 152 for a short period of time, having seen the designs for the etch parts, to be made by Eduard, I can say that you really will be very, very pleased.

ディテールアップセットを発売するのを企業が儲けるための手だとは思わないでくださいね。このキットのデザイナーは、震電でもその後継のキットでも、理由があってそうしているのです。彼らは、キットを他の物を足さなくても箱のままで、モデラーが第一級の模型を作る事が出来る様に願っています。基本のキットを全てプラスチックと言う同じ素材で作りたいと望んでいるのです。難しいスキルや素晴らしい出来栄えにするための追加の買物は、必要ないのです。アフターマーケットの小物は避けるようにしている方には、これは魅力的ですよね。また、可能性を広げたい、ちょっとの間、Ta152を保管して待っていられるという方には、エドアルド製のエッチングパーツなども製作中なのを拝見しましたけれど、気に入られる事、請け合いですよ。

Ok, let’s stop talking about the parts we don’t have.

One areas of this kit which you be very impressed with, is the cockpit. If you have seen the cockpit, you will notice that rudder pushrods, throttle linkages , and control-stick push rods are included, and indeed protrude through into the areas into which they should.  The cockpit itself is built from a separate floor, rear wall, and side consoles. You now you can, if you wish, really ‘go to town’ and create an impressive reproduction of the Ta 152 without any need to worry about  adding detail, if you wish, to painting a complete ‘pit’ .The cockpit includes the battery also, and a blank space behind the pilots seat, into which this could be seen, albeit with some difficulty. Levels of detail in this area, from raised riveting, to weld seams, are faithfully reproduced. A full colour call-out for the cockpit is given, plus a set of decals for switch, fuse and instrument notation. Two seats are also provided; one with belts and one without. The seat with belts looks exceptional and as good as any aftermarket provider would create.


OK、まだ発売されていないディテールパーツについてはこの辺りでとめましょう。
コックピットは、きっと凄く感動するに違いないエリアですよ。このコックピットを見てみると、ラダープッシュロッド、スロットルリンケージ、操縦桿プッシュロッドが再現されていて、なんとあるべき場所をきちんと貫通しています。コックピットそのものは、床、後部の壁、側部のコンソールがそれぞれ別になっています。貴方が望めば、ディテールパーツを追加する心配をしなくても上手く素晴らしいTa152を再現できますし、ピットを完璧に塗装する事もできます。コックピットにはバッテリーと、これは少し難しそうではありますが、パイロットシートの後ろの空きスペースもあります。このエリアのディテールはリベットから溶接の継ぎ目まで忠実に再現されています。コックピットの全ての配色は表記されていますし、スイッチやヒューズ、計器の注記のデカールも付属しています。座席も二つ、ベルトありとベルトなしが提供されています。
ベルト付きシートも素晴らしくて、アフターマーケットメーカーが作る別売りのものと遜色ない良い出来になっています。

The instrument panel is supplied as a transparent part, and unless you intend to apply your decals to the rear of this, and use the plastic as lenses, then you would paint this part in the respective colours, apply the instrument decals to the front. You could then apply Micro Crystal Clear and create the lenses that way. Zoukei-mura do also supply the entire instrument panel and side consoles as decals, should you wish to go that route. I do warn that a LOT of decal setting solution would need to be applied.


計器パネルは透明パーツになっています、裏にデカールを貼ってこのクリアプラスティックをレンズとして使わないならば、塗装して表からデカールを貼る事になるでしょう。
その場合はマイクロクリスタルクリアを使ってレンズを作りましょう。また、造形村は計器パネル全体と側部コンソールもデカールにしてくれていますので、このやり方でも行けます、が、デカール貼付のための技を駆使する必要がありそうだと申し上げておきましょう。

The underside of the cockpit gets the ‘ZM treatment’ too. Two fuel tanks are moulded, complete with leather straps, to the underside of this creation. These would normally be hidden from view totally, but give the modeller the chance to perhaps modify the base kit and show these off. To the rear of the cockpit also lies the nitrous-oxide tank. However, this can be seen, as the fuselage port side has its access port moulded as a separate part, complete with rear detail. Let’s take a quick look at the internal structures of the fuselage.


コックピットの下側もまた、造形村ならでは、です。二つの燃料タンクは下側までもレザーストラップが再現されています。この辺りは普通、完全に隠れてしまうのですが、モデラーにはキットを土台に改造して、ここを見せるという可能性も与えられたと言う事ですね。コックピットの後ろの方には亜酸化窒素タンクが設置されています。
機体の左舷に、後部と一緒に組み立てる別パーツとしてアクセスポートが、造形されているので見る事が出来ます。では、早速、機体の内部構造を見て行きましょう。

More or less the entire fuselage interior has beautifully moulded constructional detail, such as formers and stringers. The view through the access port should provide a good view of the nitrous-oxide tank. Any other detail you wish to apply will also not be lost in this area. There are a number of ejector pin marks on the interior walls, with some of these being in less than salubrious places, and these will need a little work to remedy. As a whole though, these are ‘negatively’ produced, and a little light filling and/or sanding will rectify this. This is the only real issue in this kit, and it is quite minor.

おおよそ胴体内部は、構造材や縦通材などの構造的なディテールが美しく造形 されています。アクセスポートから覗き込むと亜酸化窒素のタンクをよく見る事が出来ます。
その他の貴方があったらいいなあと思う様なディテールも残らず作られています。押し出しピンの跡が壁面内側に数多くあり、ちょっと修正作業が必要そうです。キット全体では、ここだけがネガティブですけれど、やすりがけ、もしくはサンディングペーパーをかければ、すぐ修正できます。このキットで問題なのは本当にこれだけなのですけれど、かなり些細な事ですね。

Continuing with the interior, the tail section is created as a separate part, fore of the fuselage-extender’, carried over from the Fw 190D series of aircraft. In here though, we have a full set of compressed air cylinders, and oxygen cylinders. Zoukei-mura have also been thoughtful enough to make the tail-wheel retraction mechanism hatch as a separate part also. A little extra detail can be added in here such as the spring, but on the whole, the out-of-box parts are far more than any previous creation from the Focke-Wulf family, by ANY plastic manufacturer, has supplied.


内部について続けましょう、後部部分は別パーツになっています、機体エクステンダー前部はFw190Dシリーズの機体からの流用です。ここでもまた、既に圧縮エアシリンダーや酸素シリンダーが見事に再現されています。
また、造形村は、思慮深い事に、尾輪の収納機構ハッチも別パーツで再現しています。
この辺りは、バネなどちょっとしたディテールの追加も可能ですが、全般に、箱から出しただけのパーツの状態で、かつて発売されたいずれのメーカーの、いずれのFocke-Wulf機よりも、よく出来ています。

Let’s take a look under the hood. The home of the Jumo 213E is well catered for and incudes one of the best looking Jumo engines I have seen in injection form. Along with the MK.108, this area comprises of around 30 parts in itself. The gun also contains the feed and ejection belts. The engine exhaust stubs are moulded with hollow tips, and a neat ignition wiring system also complements the engine. Support of the engine to the fuselage is also very simple as the engine bearers are moulded along with the rear mounting assembly and peripheral equipment sitting on top of these. This is a neat solution to what can be a taxing area for modellers to get right.


覆いの下を見て行きましょう。Jumo213Eが 入る場所もよく作られていますし、私がこれまでインジェクションキットでみた中でも最高の出来のJumoエンジンです。MK.108とあわせて、このエリアだけで約30のパーツに なっています。銃は、装填排出ベルトもついています。エンジン排気も先端に空洞をつけてよく造形されています、イグニッションの配線システムもまたエンジンを引きたてています。機体とエンジンの取り付け部もまた非常にシンプルで、支えは後部マウントやこれらの上にのる周辺機材と一緒に造形されています。モデラーにとって難度が高くなり易いこのエリアに、これは素晴らしい解決方法です。

With the wing, we now see the trademark ZM construction utilising a format of the real aircrafts design. A spar containing holes for the MG’s to protrude though, plus a variety of wing ribs, is the core of how the wing is built. With the insertion of the MG equipment, the wings can now be ‘skinned’ in their exterior plastic. One thing you will note is how the greater part of the wing leading edge is moulded as a separate part. This, speaking to the kit designers, is to prevent the possibility of those long, narrow wings from taking any sort of warp/twist. Spending time in discussion with them, this does make sense, after their explanation. The inclusion of such problem-solving factors is how the ZM team work and continually assess their designs.


翼は、これは造形村の十八番とも言える実機デザインをフォーマットにした構築を堪能できます。MGが通る為の穴が桁についています、加えて、様々な翼リブもあり、翼がどう構築されているかの要になっています。MGを差し込むと、いよいよ、外装を取り付けられます。ここでお気づきになるだろう事は、翼の前側のエッジが大きな別パーツで造形されている事です。デザイナーさんによりますと、この細くて長い翼が曲がったりゆがんだりすることを防ぐため、との事です。彼らとディスカッションをして、説明を聴いて、これは納得だと思いました。こういう問題解決をしていく要素は、造形村チームの仕事のやり方で、絶えず自分達のデザインを査定し続けています。

All moveable control surfaces are nicely rendered in a rib and fabric finish. Again, seeing the finished and painted model, I can testify to how nice this looks. I really couldn’t take my eyes of their promotional model, and it got a serious ‘fondling’. Ailerons can be posed in both raised and lowered positions, although a simply trimming of the parts will be needed to place them in the former position.


全ての可動面は、リブと機体に良く表現されています。組み立てて塗装されたモデルを拝見しましたので、これが如何に格好良いか、証言できますよ。本当に、その販促用模型から目を離す事が出来なくて、真剣に”愛撫”しまくってしまいました。ポジションを戻すにはパーツをちょっとトリミングする必要がありますが、エルロンも上げ下げ両方のポジションでポーズがつけられます。

If we now go to the main airframe assembly, we can see that the fuselage actually requires its wing roots adding before the wing. This is quite revolutionary in concept and leaves the whole model open to interpretation for dioramas showing repair and construction. With the wing married to the fuselage, the engine assembly neatly slots into place. This is covered with 3 panels. The first is a continuous interpretation of both the upper engine cover and the panel which opens upwards, forward of the windshield. The remaining two covers depict the main engine covers, which rightfully, extend to the underside of the engine. These are accurately depicted, as is the engine intake grille which is moulded as to have ‘hole’s within its mesh!

さて、では、メインフレームの組み立てに行きますと、胴体は、実は翼の前に、翼の根元部分が必要になります。これは発想としてかなり革命的で、全ての模型に、リペアや製造風景のジオラマの可能性を与えてくれます。翼と胴体の合わせ目の部分、組み立てられたエンジンが、きれいに組み入れられます。ここは3枚のパネルでカバーされます。1枚目は、エンジン上部のカバーと、上向き、ウィンドシールドの前向きに開くパネルの解説からの続きになります。残りの２枚のカバーは、メインエンジンカバーを表現していて、当然、エンジンの下側に伸びています。この辺りは正確に表現されていて、メッシュに穴があいてる様にエンジンインテイクグリルが造形されている程です！

Now, I did have a question for the designer/developer of this kit, and that was to why the two, normally separate upper cowls, are moulded as one. After discussion, I was told that they had originally intended this to be so, but this section was used as an important reference point between key areas of the fuselage, and for their ease of manipulation, they decided to make it as one piece. Their explanation did ring true, and if you wish to separate these, it should be an easy task.

さて、私はデザイナーさんと開発者さんに1つ質問がありました。
それは、何故、普通2個に分かれて造形される上部カウルが、１つのパーツで造形さ れているのか？です。ディスカッションを通してお聞きしたところ、最初は分けて造形するつもりだったそうです、が、この部分は胴体の鍵となる部分との間の重要な参照ポイントでもあったため、取り回しのためにも、ここは1つのパーツにする事にしたそうです。その説明は本当に説得力がありましたし、もし分けたければ、簡単な作業ですしね。

Choices of close and open radiator cowl flaps are given, as are the ability to position all control surfaces dynamically, including the landing flaps.The undercarriage is quite novel in the fact that you affix these by inserting them into the wing sideways, then twisting to locate them proper.


ラジエーターカウルフラップの開閉ポジションも選択できます、ランディングフラップも含めて、全てのコントロールサーフェースをダイナミックにポーズが付けられます。
アンダーキャリッジは、翼の中へ横から差し込んで正しい場所にねじって取りつけるという点で、とても斬新です。

As per the Hasegawa kit, the canopy on the Ta 152 is supplied in two parts, with the rear part encapsulating both the glazed area and the framing. A series of hooks completes the accuracy of this area, as do some decals to represent the desiccator patches applied to the canopy itself.


ハセガワのキット同様に、Ta152の キャノピーは、ガラス部分とフレームの両方になっている後部パーツを含めて2つの パーツになっています。フックの並びもまた、このエリアの正確さを完璧にしてくれていて、デカールが、キャノピーにつけられたデシケーターパッチを再現しています。

The instructions sheet piques the one for the Shinden. All diagrams showing construction are created in shaded CAD, and are without ambiguity. The manual also contains many notes and sketches which explain what the parts were used for in the actual aircraft, and how they worked. Some English to German page header text is given, which gives a nice ‘feel’ to the kit. With the notation, ZM are attempting to educate the modeller a little too, and make him/her more informed about the subject they are making.


説明書は、震電の物から更によくなっています。組立を示す略図は全てCADで作られていて、曖昧な所がありません。組立説明書は、また、沢山の注釈やスケッチが入っていて、そのパーツが実機では何のための物でどう働くのかを説明しています。
英語やドイツ語の見出しがあり、いい雰囲気を醸し出しています。造形村は、注釈を通して、モデラーをちょっと教育しようとしてくれていて、作っている物が何なのかモデラーが知る事が出来ます。

To show these guys do indeed have a sense of humour, check out the front of the manual for the ‘Zoukeimura AG’ logo!

While only a single colour scheme is supplied within the manual, the decal sheet gives you options to build any one of several machines belonging to the same ‘flight’ as the ‘Green 9’ scheme given. These numbers are also supplied in three colours, and the Werke Nummers are given as individual numbers so you may model literally ANY Ta 152H-1 you wish. That is a smart piece of design and marketing! The single decal sheet is also printed in perfect register, sharp and authentic colour, and also very thin, which is good news for decal setting solutions.

配色は一種類だけがマニュアルには示されていますが、デカールはGreen9の様に同じ飛行小隊に所属する複数の機体をつくるという選 択肢を与えてくれます。数字のデカールは3色あり、製造番号も別々に数字が与えられていて、文字通り、貴方が作りたいどんなTa152H-1でも作れてしまう訳です。これはデザインとしてもマーケティングとしても利口ですね！デカールは完璧で、シャープに、本格的な色合いでプリントされていて、とても薄くてデカール貼りには良いニュースです。

A sheet of masks is also included for the canopy exterior, as is an SWS Fan Club sheet, so don’t forget to fill it in and send to the ZM team!

So what do we think?

If you have waited for this kit, I promise you won’t be disappointed. If you have an interest in the Ta 152, then there really is only one choice of kit to purchase. The level of detail, and the attention to this detail is staggering. This is a team effort that shows in every stage. The Zoukei-mura guys are rightfully proud of this product, and it shows in every stage of construction and sprue part. It has been a labour of love from concept to end product. Very highly recommended.

もし貴方がこのキットをお待ちかねだったなら、がっかりさせられる事はないとお約束します。もし貴方がTa152に興味がおありなら、買うべきキットは、本当にこれしかありませんよね。ディテールのレベル、そしてディテールに払われた注意力は驚くばかりです。全ての開発段階でのチーム一丸となっての努力の賜物です。造形村の方々はこの製品に正当な誇りを持っていて、それが、組み立てるどの段階からも、どのランナーからも見てとれます。コンセプトから商品版製品に至るまで愛のあふれる仕事ぶりです。極めて高く推薦致します。
