Master Model Brass Barrels
Hi all,
I've been sent some samples from Piotr Czerkasow from MASTER MODEL of Poland. Master produce an increasing range of miniature brass barrels for both ships and aircraft, under 2 brands:
- SEA MASTER
- AIR MASTER
I've seen some amazing brass barrels during my modelling time, but these are simply the best I have seen. The quality, finish and detail is totally amazing. The smallest of barrels even has the barrel end drilled out, which is no mean feat when you consider the scale of them. The Air Master Browning and MG-17 guns come in 2 separate components; both the barrel and the outer sleeve.
These items would compliment any model to which they are fitted.
Each packet comes with instructions on how to add these to your model, and the barrels themselves come in a small plastic wallet, enclosed within the main packet, which is sturdily contained with the card top.
I know from Piotr that this range is set to continue with many new and exciting releases, so watch this space.

Scale Plastic & Rail are immensely proud to be associated with Master Model and its owner Piotr Czerkasow.
You will see a MASTER MODELS banner in our Retailers links, with a direct link to them from there.
Kind thanks to Piotr for the samples.
As with the last batch of sample barrels, these new releases follow the same pattern of high quality finish, complete with very good packaging and detailed instructions which show assembly (where appropriate) and giving details of which adhesive to use and what size holes to drill the native plastic components with in order to fit the new brass replacement.
It was noticed thgat the Masts and Yards set for the Russian Cruiser VARYAG that one mast was bent upon delivery. I have been in contact with Piotr Czerkasow regarding this, and he knows of this issue and has said that packaging for this item was replaced with something less generic, specifically to stop this happening. Having said that, I managed to easy straighten out the mast with no damage resulting. The detail on these items, in terms of the mast steps etc has to be seen to be believed. The yard arms are also as exquisite in their miniature appearance. Modellers will know that when brass has been primed and painted that such items look even more detailed to the eye too, so these are well worth the purchase in any case.
Piotr is always on the lookout to produce items which are not only the more common type of barrel etc, but to produce items not usually seen in brass, such as the new F-14 and F-16 probes, including the Angle of Attack additions.
1/48 scale is becoming a more popular area for aircraft modellers these days, and MASTER MODEL are certainly catering for this.
If you are a Spitfire fan, then you are very well catered for, with the release of no less than 4 types of cannon for use dependant on what version of Spitfire you build, including variations for the type of wing used. Spitfire buffs will allude to what I mean here. I have test assembled a set of the barrels where the cannon stub is fitted into it's fairing, and the fit is perfect, being almost sucked into the fairing. A small tap releases it again.
This months sample pack also included the most detailed set of sea-borne barrels I have seen. Again, depending on what pack of barrels you need, the complete variation of armament for that vessel is included. Some of these packages include 2 or 3 packs with differing variaties of barrel, all turned in the most minute of detail. MASTER MODELS obviously takes immense pride in making sure that even the smallest barrel is turned to look exactly like the next.....no mean feat when you consider the size of some of the smaller barrels.
As I said, there are some very exciting releases in the pipeline, that I am sworn to secrecy about, but you will NOT be disappointed. I will show them here as soon as I receive the sample packs.
Piotrs pictures of his range far surpass any picture I can take, so I will leave you with an idea of the quality of this product via these photographs, but before that, if you would like to download a 2009 - 2010 product list with some new releases attached, then please click here.
