This is an interesting kit for me, I've always liked the airships, and who can forget the chilling images of the disaster with the narration of Herbert Morrison. As you'd expect there isn't much to this kit, two sides of the airship with the engines, control surfaces and a poor excuse for a mooring tower moulded in silver plastic, you do get a small clear sprue for the gondola and other glazed parts (good masking skills required!!).
All are nicely detailed with no visible sink or ejector pin marks. The kit goes together in 11 stages (11 being the painting) the instructions are clear enough (although I do think the lineweight is too heavy on Revell instructions!). As previously mentioned the mooring tower is indeed basic and I'm sure you could scratch one better from the sprue. one half of the ship was slightly warped, but a bit of tape and glue upon assembly will easily sort this out.
The decals are well printed on decent medium, as you'd expect minus swastikas, you'll have to source you're own
So what do we think?
I think for the RRP of £10.99 its a good kit that will be a change of subject for most people (is there another plastic airship kit???)
Overall 8/10
Revell kits are available from most Highstreet Hobbyshops and Online retailers, many thanks to Revell of Germany for providing the sample used for this review
